This position is five (5) days a week
1.
Valid ESL Certification
2.
Knowledge of second language acquisition processes, research, legal requirements, program models, methodological approaches, techniques for teaching English, reading, and content to second language learners, appropriate assessments for program placement and monitoring student achievement.
3.
Native or near-native proficiency in all the skills of understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in English is required.
Bilingualism of the language most represented by students is an asset, not a requirement, unless the program model is a bilingual one, in which case, native or near-native proficiency in all skills of the target language of the program is required.
4.
Excellent interpersonal skills in order to: collaborate with all staff in a school and provide ongoing staff development and leadership as a specialist of the second language issues in a school.
